The Lagotto

The Lagotto

Empathy, love and praise bring much more success in training curly-heads than drill and strictness!!!

Above all, his interactions with children are worth mentioning. On the one hand, the Lagotto is very sensitive, on the other hand, he is full of energy and up for any fun. The Lagotto is a robust nature dog. He loves to roam through forests and will lie down in any water hole, no matter how dirty.

Its hunting behavior has been largely "bred out," but in some exceptions the instinct of the water retriever still lingers. However, the hunting instinct is easy to manage.

The Lagotto loves lots of cuddling and snuggling. He is very affectionate and always seeks the proximity of his people. The Lagotto belongs in the house and not in a kennel.

Ideally, your Lagotto accompanies you in every everyday situation.

The Lagotto is described as a dog for beginners in various breed portraits. I would like to raise a little awareness of this.

The breed is highly intelligent and has a great need for exercise. Therefore, the Lagotto needs a lot of exercise, coupled with loving, consistent training.

My two Lagotti are extremely curious and are always trying out new approaches to solutions.

On the one hand, this behavior promotes the training of the dogs, and on the other hand, both dogs ask me "why", even in automated situations.

...from the textbook...

According to the FCI, the Lagotto Romagnolo, which originates from Italy, belongs to the category of retrievers, flushing dogs and water dogs.

The medium-sized breed (male 43cm - 48cm, female (41 cm - 46 cm)) has a life expectancy of about 14 years.

The Lagotto's coat should be medium length and curly. The coat color varies, from brown to orange, white, with or without markings.

If the Lagotto is black, something is wrong.

The creature is considered to be intelligent, bright, loyal, fond of children and good-natured.
