My name is Alexander Trost, and together with my family we are fortunate enough to live at the foot of the majestic Lichtenburg in Ostheim/Rhön – right in the harmonious border triangle of Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia.
As a proud hobby breeder of the Lagotto Romagnolo breed, I am a member of the LRZ (Lagotto Romagnolo Breeders' Association) and always adhere to the guidelines of the VDH/FCI.
The love and loyalty to my Lagotti, Etna, Joshi and Abbey Road, unfolds in a fascinating symphony of affection and passion, deeply embedded in the world of truffle hunting.
Joshi, my faithful companion since 2017, carries the memories of countless walks and adventures in his eyes. Every joint search for the precious truffles becomes a unique chapter in our bond.
Abbey Road, the cuddly lady, brought not only additional warmth into our home with her arrival in winter 2019, but also a curious soul who was infected by the fascination of truffle hunting.
Etna, is a small volcano full of energy who has quickly become an impressive truffle expert. Her enthusiasm and dedication to searching for the hidden treasures under the earth are infectious and enliven our excursions together.
The family is growing and growing. We have kept the wonderful Argo da castello della Luce from the A litter (VDH). He lives as a little prince a few kilometers away with Caro, Manuel and the 3 children.
In January 2024, Jacqueline Egger (Switzerland) and I bought our first male dog together. Lusim Dragon Zebulon (Zepi). Zepi is just getting used to the world and is a cuddly monster. The purchase was very spontaneous! Sometimes you have to take action when opportunities and luck come together.
Pari Passu Akash, our little color wonder, also belongs to Jacqueline Egger and me. Akash is roano marrone focato, the combination is extremely rare.
We are already looking forward to seeing how the little one develops.
Bernd and Anke live about 5 minutes away and take loving care of our little treasure.
It is very important to Jacqueline and me that we mate perfect males with our females. Character and anatomy must be a perfect match.
By purchasing the males we can perfectly implement our ideas of breeding.
The truffle-filled experiences are not only part of our daily routine, but also a shared passion that deepens our bond. Our Lagotti are not only companions on walks, but also reliable partners in the discovery of this seductive aroma.
In this world of daring paws and wagging tails, the true essence of love and loyalty is revealed. Truffle hunting becomes a ritual of connection, where we not only find precious delicacies, but also strengthen the bond between man and dog. Each outing becomes an adventure that connects us not only physically, but also emotionally.
Our passion for truffle hunting goes beyond everyday life. Whether it is taking part in TV appearances on KIKA, teaching in schools or setting up our own truffle plantation - our Lagotti are always by our side. Their curiosity and joy in searching for hidden treasures inspires us every day to deepen our love and loyalty to this unique breed.
In the moments we spend together hunting for truffles, I experience the depth of the bond I have with my Lagotti.
The joy in their eyes when they find a truffle is a reflection of the pure love and loyalty they bring into our lives. It is not just a passion, but a philosophy of life that guides us through the world of truffle hunting and strengthens our bond with these wonderful animals.

"I talk to him when I'm lonely and I know he understands me.
When he looks at me attentively and licks my hands.
He rubs his nose against my best suit - but I don't say a word. God knows! I can buy new clothes, but I can't buy a friend like him."
